Attachment Resources Test

Secure attachment does not develop by chance. Attachment research describes five experiences that children need for it to develop: safety and protection (someone is there with whom I feel safe), being seen (someone senses how I am really doing), soothing and comfort (I am not alone with difficult feelings), delight in me (someone takes joy in me—not because of what I achieve, but simply because I am who I am), and encouragement (I am allowed to explore the world and become myself). This test invites you to look back: How much of this was available to you during childhood—and what would you have needed?

The test also reflects current attachment research: not all caregivers have the same influence. The most formative person is typically the one you turned to as a child when you were afraid or needed comfort—your primary attachment figure. Other caregivers can provide important support and compensate for what was missing, especially when they were genuinely present in your everyday life. The scoring takes this into account: you first identify your most important caregivers, rank them, and estimate how present they were in your life. The assessment then focuses on the people who were most formative for you.

As a result, you receive your personal profile across the five attachment qualities, together with a gentle guide to the experiences that may still be developed or strengthened later in life. Completion time: approximately 5–9 minutes. The focus is on how you experienced things at the time, not on assigning blame—and the test is a tool for reflection, not a diagnosis.
